MaRVIN wins 3rd place in the Billion Triple Challenge
MaRVIN, the cluster-based, distributed, anytime RDF(S)/OWL inference engine, implemented by the LarKC team at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam has won 3rd place in the Billion Triple Challenge at the International Semantic Web Conference last week in Karlsruhe.
The Billion Triple Challenge has been organised this year for the first time to encourage the Semantic Web community to face the challenge of dealing with very large datasets.
Although MaRVIN (”brain the size of a planet”) is still suffering from growing pains, the jury praised MaRVIN as a very exciting and innovative piece of work. More details (brief description, 6 page overview paper, poster) at MaRVIN’s home-page, at http://www.larkc.eu/marvin/.
